Judy received her
undergraduate degree from the University of Massachusetts at Boston, summa
cum laude, where she was also a recipient of the T. Scott Miyakawa Memorial
Prize in Sociology. She received her J.D. degree from Suffolk University Law
School, cum laude, and was awarded the Jurisprudence Award in
Administrative Law.
After graduating from Suffolk, Judy Flynn first worked as a
contract attorney at a small south shore elder law firm
where she focused on guardianships and MassHealth
applications. She then worked as an Associate in the Law
Office of William Brisk in Newton for over two years,
focusing on all aspects of elder law and related
litigation. She now runs an elder law practice in Hingham,
where she works with elders and their families in areas of
long-term care planning, MassHealth applications and
appeals, guardianships and conservatorships, special needs
trusts, probate administration, and public benefits such as
SSI and SSDI. In addition, a significant portion of her
practice is devoted to litigation of issues affecting
elders, such as financial abuse by family members or
friends, contested guardianships, trust and Will disputes,
and assessment of nursing home negligence and abuse cases.
Judy is an active member of the National Academy of Elder
Law Attorneys (NAELA) and its Massachusetts chapter,
attending local and national conferences each year to stay
current on this rapidly changing area of law. She is also a
member of the Massachusetts Guardianship Association (MGA)
and the Massachusetts Bar Association (MBA).
